NEW PLACES TO PHOTOGRAPH: END OF THE ROAD

GO TO THE END OF THE ROAD FOR SOME NEW ADVENTURES IN PHOTOGRAPHY !

end of road 2

WHAT IF YOU DROVE ON A ROAD UNTIL IT ENDED?  WHAT KIND OF PHOTOS WOULD YOU RUN INTO?  THAT IS A NEW IDEA I HAVE TRIED MANY TIMES IN THE AREA THAT I LIVE IN, AND HAVE BEEN PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.  I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THIS WITH YOU BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SO MUCH GOOD LUCK WITH THIS IDEA:  FIND A COUNTRY ROAD, AND DRIVE UNTIL IT ENDS.

NOW, THAT DOESN’T ALWAYS WORK, I REALIZE, BECAUSE YOU MIGHT END UP IN SOMEONE’S FARM YARD, OR THEIR HOUSE, BUT, IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK TO YOUR ADVANTAGE, MAKE SURE THIS ROAD THAT YOU PICK TAKES YOU OUT INTO THE COUNTRY AREA.  I THINK ALL COUNTRIES HAVE THIS TYPE OF ROAD.

AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTO ABOVE, THAT THIS IS DEFINITELY A ROAD, AND THAT IT ENDED THERE.  NOW MAYBE THE ROAD MAY HAVE CONTINUED ON IN THE SUMMER TIME, BUT, AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME, IT ENDED NOW IN THE WINTER BECAUSE THERE IS NO NEED FOR THE SNOW ROAD CREWS TO CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THE ROADS.

YOU CAN SEE IN THE ABOVE PHOTO, THAT I HAVE COME TO THE END OF THE ROAD AGAIN, BUT, IN THIS CASE I AM IN A FARMLAND.  IT SEEMED TO ME, ACTUALLY, AN ABANDONED FARM LAND.  HERE, USING LEADING LINES IN COMPOSITION, AND THE OLD FENCE AND STOCK YARD, I FELT I HAD FOUND A TREASURE OF PHOTOS.

End of road 4

THIS OLD FENCE POST, AND HOW IT WAS HOLDING ALL THE BARBED WIRES AND FENCE LINES, I FOUND TO BE QUITE INTERESTING.  THERE WERE MANY THINGS MY WIFE AND I FOUND TO PHOTOGRAPH AT THE END OF THIS ROAD.

End of the road 5

SOMETIMES THE END OF THE ROAD, MIGHT ACTUALLY BE A REAL DESTINATION, SUCH AS A STATE PARK, OR NATIONAL PARK.  THE ROAD GOES NO FURTHER.  IN THIS CASE, THIS ROAD WENT ACROSS A LAKE TO AN ISLAND, WHERE WE COULD CAPTURE A  SUNSET.  THIS PARTICULAR PHOTO, THE FOREGROUND WAS LIT UP WITH A FLASH TO GIVE THIS PHOTO SOME DIMENSION.

End of the road 6

ANTELOPE ISLAND STATE PARK.  ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE SUNSET PHOTOS, FOUND AT THE END OF THE ROAD.  INTERESTING TO SEE A ROAD CREATED BY SOMEONE WHO WANTED TO DO A LITTLE “OFF-ROADING”.

WINTER IS SOMETIMES VERY HARSH WHERE I LIVE, BUT, IF YOU CAN GET OUT INTO THE COLD, AND DRIVE AROUND IN THE COUNTRY, INTO THE FARMLAND, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT’S FOGGY A BIT, YOU CAN FIND SOME REALLY GREAT SHOTS.  HERE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE WINTER PHOTOS,  WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE END OF THE ROAD, AND THE ROAD IS RARELY USED, IF AT ALL, AND DRIVES OFF INTO SOME UNKNOWN FIELD, INTO THE FOG.  THE DESOLATION AND QUIETNESS THAT YOU CAN GET BY GOING TO THE END OF THE ROAD, WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH SOME WONDERFUL PHOTOS.

OF COURSE, NOTHING CAN PROVIDE THE BEST PHOTOS THAN COMING UP TO THE END OF THE ROAD, THAN COMING UP TO A LARGE LAKE OR THE OCEAN AND CAPTURING THE SUNSETS OR SUNRISES THAT CAN BE CREATED.  TIMING OF COURSE IS CRITICAL TO GET THE BEST SHOT, BUT, MAKE IT A POINT TO GET THERE AT THE RIGHT TIME.

HERE ARE JUST A FEW MORE PHOTOS THAT I HAVE TAKEN, BY JUST GOING TO THE END OF THE ROAD:

TRY A NEW ADVENTURE!  BE ADVENTUROUS, RIGHT IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD.  FIND A ROAD, AND GO TO THE END OF IT, AND SEE IF YOU DON’T FIND SOMETHING NEW AND INTERESTING TO TAKE PHOTOS OF.  YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED.
