
Patterns in photography have been around for a long time. There are a few things that make a pattern a so likeable, and usable. I find that photos of patterns are sometimes a big thing now in homes. One big picture of nothing but a “pattern” photo.
As for me, when I take a photo of something that creates a pattern, I want to make sure you can still tell what the subject is. For example, the above photo you can tell is beautiful swirl of grass.

When you take “Pattern” photography, you notice that all the rules of composition are done. You are not trying to put a subject in the “third” quadrants, no leading lines, etc. It’s just something that creates a mood by itself, and it should be something that people are familiar with. Let’s take a look at some “pattern” photos and see if any of these inspire you. Then try to take pictures yourself using “patterns”.
