The nice thing about living in the United States is that each state offers something totally different. You think you go into a whole new country because of what this state has as far as photo opportunities.

Alabama is the 30th largest by area and the 24th-most populous of the U.S. states. With a total of 1,500 miles (2,400 km) of inland waterways, Alabama has among the most of any state. Alabama is nicknamed the Yellowhammer State, after the state bird.

The first rocket to put humans on the Moon was built in Huntsville, Alabama
This rocket was named Apollo 11 and it made history. This happened in 1969. Also, Huntsville, AL is considered the rocket capital of the world.

The first time I looked at this photo I was wondering where the mountains are. I live in a mountainous state (Utah), and there are mountains everywhere. But this is the Orange Beach in Alabama at Sunset. Looks like a lovely beach and lined with hotels on the oceanside. Very nice!

The state’s official insect in the Monarch Butterfly
Most people know what the butterfly looks like but it’s always a good idea to get outside and take a look. This fun fact is great for getting the kids outdoors and seeing how many butterflies they can actually see. Just make certain that they don’t try to catch or touch them as this will harm the butterflies.

The Labrador Retriever is the most popular dog in Alabama.
The most popular dog breed in Alabama is the Labrador Retriever, according to a list of America’s favorite breeds by The American Kennel Club. It beats out other favorites like the Bulldog and Beagle for its popularity with Alabamians who love their furry friends dearly!

Dogs are cute and adorable. I don’t mind inserting a photo or two into my blogs.

Alabama does not have an official nickname!
There are many arguments about what the official nickname is, but the truth is Alabama doesn’t have one!
The most popular nicknames used are:
- Alabama the Beautiful
- Heart of Dixie (used on license plates)
- Sweet Home Alabama
- Yellowhammer State

The State of Alabama has a unique state bird: The Yellowhammer Woodpecker. It appears to be a variety of the Flicker Woodpecker but Alabama is known to have the largest amount of Yellowhammer woodpeckers.
Alabama is also known (at least in Alabama) as Alabama the Beutiful. Here are some photos of Alabama that are beautiful. Maybe worth a trip to get there and take your own photos:
